Collection: Stephanie Crisp

Stephanie Crisp was born in 1947 in Christchurch. She taught for several years at Frazer High School in Hamilton and exhibited her paintings widely locally and nationally. Originally from Canterbury – Stephanie found the Waikato difficult to paint because everything was so green, unlike the ochre shades of the plains of ‘home’. In time she loved the rolling hills and the tricks light plays,on the countryside.

Stephanie has been a finalist in the Telecom Art Competition and had pieces accepted for the “No 8 Wire Sculptural Competition”.

She says “I like working with mixed media, especially in my collage works. I can move things around within a space-freedom really. I love colour! Painting for me is never an isolated activity. It happens during my everyday life and makes me happy and peaceful."
