Emily Jane Bayley

Bachelor of Fine Arts, University of Canterbury

Emily graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Canterbury in 1994. She went on to study art in India and traveled in Europe for five years working at the National Gallery in London as a graphic designer. 

On her return to New Zealand Emily took up the position of senior graphic designer for exhibitions at Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand. She was there for seven years then left to set up her own design business and continue her painting and design studies. 

Emily’s practice includes working in oils on board or canvas, as well as illustration and expressive typography. Her work is inspired by things she saw on her travels, texts she has read and passions such as the conservation of Aotearoa’s flora and fauna.
